Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PA/Special Needs Assistant (SNA) to join our team. This role is designed to support a student in further education with assessed educational needs and ensure they receive the care and assistance they require to thrive both academically and socially.
Qualifications:
The minimum required qualification for this position is one of the following:
- FETAC Level 3 major qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications, OR
- A minimum of three grade Ds in the Junior Certificate, OR
- Equivalent qualification in a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Special Needs Assistant, you will provide vital non-teaching support to students with special educational needs. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Classroom Support: Preparation and tidying up of classrooms, assisting with classroom activities as directed by the teacher or Principal.
- Transport Assistance: Assisting students with boarding and alighting from school buses, and traveling as an escort during school hours as necessary.
- Personal Assistance: Supporting students with specific needs such as helping with typing, writing, and the use of computers or other equipment.
- Daily Care: Assisting with feeding, clothing, toileting, and maintaining hygiene, while ensuring the health and safety of the student.
- Field Trips & Activities: Assisting during out-of-school visits, walks, examinations, and other school activities.
- Supervision: Supervising students during assembly, recreation, and transition times between classes.
- School Development Participation: Engaging in school development planning and cooperation with school policies and practices.
- Parent Engagement: Communicating with parents of students with special needs as required by the school management.
- Additional Duties: Assisting with other tasks as needed based on the needs of the students or school such as toilet assistance.

- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work as part of a team.
- Patient, empathetic, and caring approach to working with children.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under the supervision of the Principal or teacher.
- Flexibility to take on additional tasks as required by the school.
