Flexiforce, a Hartley People Company are recruiting for a Senior Network Engineer for our client in County Galway. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who has experience in a similar role, looking to progress their career and are based in the Galway.

35 hours working week.

27 days holidays pro rata.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have overall understanding of a large-scale enterprise network including servers, switches, firewalls, and other network related hardware and processes to ensure efficient operation.
  • Working with internal IT and Managed Service Providers, act as the lead person for network related or ETB-wide P1 and P2.
  • Participate in and lead projects as required to facilitate improvements to business processes and/or infrastructure.
  • Working with internal IT and Managed Service Providers, create and maintain network standards for LAN, WAN, WLAN and Microsoft cloud network infrastructure.
  • Support IT Technicians by overseeing the Service Desk and act as an escalation point for complex support problems ensuring that issues are escalated appropriately and in a timely manner to managed service providers.
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex IT issues and document findings and recommendations accordingly.
  • Working with internal IT, identify and implement appropriate ICT policies, guidelines and standards and ensure that policies remain up to date and relevant.
  • Working with internal IT, senior management, national IT Groups and Managed Service Providers, identifying disaster recovery/business continuity solutions that minimise the risk of system outages and data loss.


  • Due to the nature of the post and travel requirements, candidates must have access to own transport and hold a full driving licence.
  • Have a third level qualification in ICT, Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity or a related discipline at Level 7 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications.
  • Microsoft and Cisco Certifications advantageous.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a network engineering or related role.
  • Have experience with network monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
  • Have adept knowledge of data networking, including switching, routing, directory services, and TCP/IP fundamentals.
  • Have excellent hands-on technical expertise and experience in supporting windows environments, Office 365, Active Directory, end user device support and networking.
  • Be self-motivating, flexible and results focused.
  • Have the ability to prioritise and manage work in a dynamic and pressurised environment.
  • Excellent organisational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills.
